Dr. Maynord is engaged in leading Quality and Efficiency Improvement work for the Pediatric Critical Care Division and the Pediatric Heart Institute. In the past, he has led Unplanned Extubation work nationally through the Solutions for Patient Safety improvement collaborative. He is currently focused on decreasing Length of Stay for cardiac surgical patients and improving feeding outcomes for neonatal cardiac patients.

Dr. Whitney Loring's research interests overall include evaluating the effectiveness of various models of parent and provider training and consultation. A specific research focus area is on developing and evaluating intervention strategies that address behavioral pediatric concerns for children with autism spectrum disorders, such as sleep concerns and toileting difficulties. She served as a Principal Investigator examining a brief behavioral intervention for adolescents with ASD and insomnia and a Site Principal Investigator examining the training of parents and school based personnel in implementing behavioral interventions for toilet training in educational settings. She also has served as a consultant, sleep educator, co-investigator, or expert staff trainer examining the effectiveness of training parents and community providers in providing sleep education for children with ASD and insomnia. In addition, she is the educational and community liaison for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM), has completed behavioral and diagnostic phenotyping across various studies, is the Dissemination Co-Chair for Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network, is the Network Family Support lead for the Health and Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Tennessee Cares for ASD Navigation Network, and was a psychology hub expert for Project ECHO autism funded through HRSA.
