Letter from the Director
Since its establishment over 50 years ago by Dr. Gerald M. Fenichel, our division has been committed to excellence in patient care, the training of future pediatric neurologists, and pioneering research aimed at developing better therapies for neurological diseases affecting children. These missions are closely interconnected and essential to our success. We realize our goals through a remarkable team of providers who are passionate about pediatric health and are recognized both nationally and internationally for their excellence. See below the list of areas where our team stands out in their commitment to quality and innovation.
| Epilepsy | Neuromuscular Disorders |
| Global Health | Headache Management |
| Developmental Disabilities | Movement Disorders |
| Clinical trials for emerging therapies | Pediatric Stroke |
| NIH-funded clinical, translational and basic science research | Demyelinating disorders |
In addition to our main clinic located in the Doctor’s Office Tower at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, we also treat patients with pediatric neurological disorders at several satellite clinics in Jackson, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Clarksville and Cookeville, Tennessee. See below the variety of subspecialty clinics for conditions we offer:

| Angelman's Syndrome | Muscular Dystrophy |
| Rett Syndrome | Leukodystrophy, among others |
| Stroke |
Our hospital-based services encompass inpatient neurology admissions, neurology consultations, an epilepsy team and critical care neurology. We additionally provide telemedicine services to Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Research is highly active within our division, with multiple NIH-funded scientists engaged in basic, translational and clinical research. Numerous clinical trials are currently underway at Vanderbilt, focusing on new pharmaceuticals for pediatric epilepsy and treatments for neuromuscular disorders.
We place a strong emphasis on training and education, offering a categorical Child Neurology Residency program that admits four residents annually. Following residency, we provide ACGME-approved fellowship programs in Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular disorders and Sleep. We also sponsor non-ACGME-approved training in Pediatric Movement Disorders, Demyelinating/White Matter Disorders and Stroke.
Medical students from Vanderbilt University and other institutions play a vital role in our program, enjoying diverse clinical experiences ranging from outpatient clinics to inpatient teams, and advanced clinical electives for 3rd and 4th-year students, along with opportunities for research projects.
Thank you for your interest in our division. Please feel free to reach out regarding any opportunities related to education, training, and research.
Best regards,
