Research Information
Dr. McDaniel joined the Vanderbilt Pediatric Hematology/Oncology faculty in 2011 after finishing fellowship at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University. She focuses her clinical efforts on the care of pediatric patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders, serving as the director of the pediatric thrombosis and inpatient hematology consult programs. Her research efforts include both treatment and quality initiatives in the pediatric hematology realm. She has served as the principal investigator and sub-investigator for several sponsor initiated pediatric hematology clinic trials, including trials focused on the treatment of pediatric venous thromboembolism, chronic ITP, severe plasminogen deficiency, and hemophilia. In conjunction with the Vanderbilt quality department and the Solutions for Patient Safety, Dr. McDaniel also focuses some of her attention on a hospital-wide project directed toward risk stratification and prevention of hospital-acquired venous thromboembolism in pediatric patients.
