Sam is from the suburbs of Chicago. She received a BS in Chemistry and a BA in Mathematical Statistics from Wake Forest University. She attended medical school at Rush Medical College followed by a pediatric residency at the University of Chicago. During residency, she also completed the McLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics Fellowship.

She is interested in research involving bioethics, extremely premature infants, and neonatal palliative care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring Nashville, and traveling.

Misun moved around quite a bit as a child, but mostly grew up in Orlando, FL and Seoul, Korea. She obtained her B.S. in biology at Yale University. She then moved to Dallas for medical school at UT Southwestern. She completed her pediatrics residency and a chief residency at Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago. She then spent two years as a NICU hospitalist at Northwestern prior to starting fellowship at Vanderbilt.

Misun’s interests include medical education and clinical ethics. She is a fan of jam sessions, chamber music, biking, game nights, and reclining after eating.

Erin grew up outside of Chicago, IL. She obtained her B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College before receiving her M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Afterward, she headed back to Chicago to complete her pediatric residency at Northwestern. She is currently enrolled in her Master in Public Health at Vanderbilt University.

Erin's research interests include the economic, psychosocial and physical health outcomes of prematurity on patients and their family. She is a 2024 recipient of the AAP Marshall Klaus Award in Health Services Research and a participiant in the Vanderbilt Patient/ pRactice Outcomes Research in Effectiveness and Systems Science (PROgRESS) T32 Program. In her spare time, she likes hiking, cooking, and traveling. She most enjoys spending time with her wife, Megan, dog, Granger, and two nephews.

Michael grew up in Washington, D.C. After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Virginia, he started his pediatric residency in the U.S. Navy at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. During his time as a Naval Medical Officer, he spent two years with the U.S. Marines and two years as a general pediatrician in Okinawa, Japan.

Michael’s interests are excellent clinical practice, medical simulation and medical education. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading and the outdoors.

Dr. Catherine M. Marchetta grew up in Princeton, NJ and completed her Pediatrics residency training at Thomas Jefferson University/Nemours Children’s Health in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE. She earned her medical degree from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, NJ and her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA.

Before enrolling in medical school, Dr. Marchetta collaborated on clinical research for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the University of Bologna and served as an AmeriCorps Community Health Volunteer at the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers. Dr. Marchetta has been an active member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation for over 20 years. Since 2002, she has been attending Camp Oasis, volunteering as a counselor and now serving as a camp physician for this special, week-long summer camp for children diagnosed with IBD. She loves to see these extraordinary children building friendships and having fun despite the challenges they face due to their chronic illnesses.

Dr. Marchetta was an enthusiastic member of the Varsity Field Hockey Team at Wellesley College. She speaks English and Italian fluently. In her free time, she enjoys singing, traveling, being outdoors, baking, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also loves exploring all of the delicious cuisine and live music that Nashville has to offer!

Dr. Nikita Lalchandani Day completed her Pediatrics residency at Louisiana State University, New Orleans. She earned her MBBS from the University of Queensland with pre-clinical years in Brisbane, Australia and with clinical years at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a BS in Nutritional Science.

Her academic interests include nutrition and global health. With the mentorship of Dr. Fang Yan, Dr. Lalchandani Day is investigating the role of human oligosaccharides in prevention of colitis. Her extensive travels range from preparing and running a rural health clinic in Haiti to healthcare advocacy experience in the Philippines. Dr. Lalchandani Day enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and child.

Dr. Derek Armstrong completed his Pediatrics residency at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He earned his M.D. from the Frank H. Netter M.D. School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. degree in Human Biology.

During medical school, Dr. Armstrong was selected for the NIDDK Vanderbilt Medical Student Research & Training program where he pursued his research interests in obesity. As he continues to pursue his academic interests in fellowship, he has been honored with a T32 Training Grant Award. Dr. Armstrong is a prior soccer coach and long-time player. His other interests outside of medicine include hiking, cooking, and photography.
