Born in Pakistan, Hira moved to the U.S. at the age of two. By the time she was in fifth grade, her family had lived in five different states, finally settling in Geismar, Louisiana. Since then, Hira has called the Bayou State home. She attended LSU in Baton Rouge for undergrad, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Sociology. There, she became interested in medicine after shadowing her childhood pediatrician. After graduating, Hira moved to New Orleans to attend medical school at LSUHSC, which further solidified her love for pediatrics.

Hira is happily married to her husband, Abbas, who is a pharmacist. They are proud cat parents to Mikasa, a sassy tabby kitten. In her free time, Hira enjoys decorating her home (she could practically live at HomeGoods), drawing/painting, exploring coffeeshops, traveling, going on long walks, and cooking.

Born in Chicago and raised in a small suburb about 15 minutes outside of Chicago, Victoria spent most of her childhood debating if being one of six children was the best or worst thing that could have happened to her (definitely the best)! She then moved to the cornfields of Illinois to attend undergrad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There, she studied integrative biology with a minor in chemistry and first developed her love for country music and cowboy boots while dancing in barns. After college, she returned to Chicago and took two years off working as a medical assistant in an ophthalmology office and falling in love with traveling, visiting eight different countries during that time. For medical school, Victoria attended Rush Medical College where she solidified her passion for pediatrics and health equity.

Outside of medicine, she can be found walking her two crazy dogs with her fiancé, eating a lot of pizza, and spending time with family.

Andersen was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, she was a hybrid football fan, rooting for both the Tennessee Vols and the Florida Gators (her dad's alma mater). Her loyalties became more complicated when her two sisters attended college at the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia. All that to say, Andersen closely follows college football and looks forward to finally having an SEC team of her own to cheer on - Vanderbilt! Andersen attended Wake Forest University and avidly cheers on the Demon Deacons too.

Throughout her undergraduate education at Wake Forest and her medical school education at East Tennessee State University, she prioritized mentoring and hanging out with kids in hospital and educational settings, which helped keep her happy and motivated. Andersen also enjoys being outside, especially when hiking and playing her new hobby of tennis. If you know Andersen long enough, she'll try to talk you into an evening of card games, a visit to a local eatery, or a weekend trip somewhere new!

After undergrad, John stayed in Pittsburgh and worked in an inpatient pharmacy doing sterile compounding of medications before moving to Philadelphia for medical school.

Victoria grew up in Hoover, Alabama but has called Nashville home since 2013 when she began her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, she majored in Spanish and Medicine, Health, & Society and was a member of the cheerleading team. Victoria completed research in the Stress & Coping Lab as an undergrad and for a year prior to starting medical school. During her time in the lab, she learned about the ways that stress, chronic illness, and ACEs can impact the lives of children and families. Victoria stayed at Vanderbilt for medical school and knew pediatrics was the path for her from the very beginning. During medical school, she was excited to be in one of the first cohorts of medical students to receive a graduate certificate in health equity. Victoria is thrilled to be staying at Vanderbilt for her residency in pediatrics and is now a proud “Triple Dore.”

In her free time, she loves walks at the McCabe Greenway, browsing the shelves at Parnassus Books, and hot yoga.

John grew up in Athens, Georgia where he also attended the University of Georgia (2021 National Champs, Go Dawgs!) and majored in English Literature and Cellular Biology. Through his studies, he became fascinated in stories and how people understand their illnesses within a particular narrative. John then attended the Medical College of Georgia where he developed an interest in Pediatric Cardiology and Medical Ethics in particular, focusing on how we understand suffering in medically complex children. Between his third and fourth year of medical school, John refined these interests as a Theology, Medicine, and Culture Fellow at Duke University's Divinity School, obtaining a Masters in Theological Studies.

In his spare time, John enjoys reading, writing, and hiking with his wife, Maggie, and their dog, Penn. You can also find him at a local bike shop procrastinating before rides and following World Tour Cycling a bit too closely.
