Haley Meade Barnette, MD
Medical School: University of Virginia School of Medicine
College: Virginia Tech
Hometown: Pound, Virginia
Haley grew up in a small, Appalachian town located in the southwestern corner of Virginia and spent her childhood playing with her brothers and cousins on her grandfather's farm. She obtained a degree in Biochemistry and Religion & Culture from Virginia Tech, becoming the first in her immediate family to obtain a four-year degree. Driven by a passion for alleviating the health disparities present in the Appalachian region, Haley then attended medical school at the University of Virginia where she discovered her love of pediatrics. She is thrilled to be pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatrician here at Vanderbilt and can't wait to take the skills she learns back to her hometown. Haley is excited to explore Nashville with her husband, Raymond, their elderly rescue dog, Brutus, and their rambunctious hound, Patch.
