Medical School: University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine

Bethany grew up in northern Brazil where her parents serve as missionaries. Her first exposure to medicine was accompanying her father as he often flew a small plane of healthcare providers to rural towns across the Amazon. After graduating high school, Bethany moved to the United States where she studied Biology and Chemistry at Jacksonville State University and spent a year working as a Patient Care Technician. She attended medical school at UAB where she met her husband, John Mitchell, who is an Internal Medicine resident at Vanderbilt.

In her free time, Bethany strives to brew the perfect cup of coffee, fumbles around on the guitar, plays racquetball, and spends quality time with her cats, Kimchi and Olive.
