Areas of Interest: I envision a career that uses informatics methods and tools to support quality improvement and research programs in pediatric hospital medicine and to ultimately, improve health outcomes for children.

Personal Interests: There are so many! I love spending time outside—gardening, running, camping/backpacking, and hiking. The indoor activities I enjoy include cooking, weaving, and doing puzzles (jigsaw, crosswords, sudoku). I also like live music and going out to eat.
Why I Chose Vanderbilt: One reason I chose Vanderbilt is because of the support they can provide me outside of hospital medicine. I wanted to spend a large majority of my individualized curriculum in informatics and Dr. Derek Williams and Dr. My-Linh Ngo were able to show me how and what that would look like.
Additionally, I felt like I could see myself fitting in with the section. On interview day, I could tell the section was close-knit and welcoming. This became even more apparent when My-Linh set up an impromptu FaceTime after the Match and again when she and the current fellows at the time set up a social hour for the entire section when I came down to Nashville to find housing.

Adam grew up in Franklin, TN just south of Nashville. He went up to Wisconsin for college where he completed his undergraduate degree in Biology. After graduating, he obtained his EMT license and worked in the ED at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. He then moved out to Memphis for medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. After obtaining his medical degree, he moved to Cincinnati to complete his pediatric residency. While there, he became involved in research on common respiratory viruses in children.
When not in the hospital, Adam likes to spend time with his wife and daughter, Allene and Lyra, going to the zoo, parks, breweries, and restaurants. He is excited to be back in Tennessee for fellowship, closer to family and Predators games.

Kim was born in Chesapeake, VA but has deeper roots in Nigeria. She found her interest in medicine and infectious disease after visiting family abroad. Early on, she equated treating infectious diseases to making people feel better and wanted to be a part of the process. She attended James Madison University where she received her B.S. in Biology and then heading off to the University of Louisville SOM on a scholarship. It was here that her interest in infectious disease intensified and the opportunities to serve international populations were made apparent. She enjoyed working with a refugee resettlement agency to help incoming refugees get acclimated to their new home. She completed her combined internal medicine-pediatrics residency in Greenville, SC. Here, her passion for improving the quality of healthcare in minoritized populations shone through with her strong efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in her residency class in order to improve representation and health outcomes for other BIPOC. She also officially became a JEDI, a recipient of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion award for her efforts. She is excited to continue her MedPeds ID training here in Nashville with the intention to continue to serve global and other minoritized populations with an interest in HIV care.
