Dr. Moore's research program focuses on the pathogenesis of Type 1 diabetes and identifying new approaches to prevent and cure disease. His research progress is primarily focused on the immunology of diabetes including identifying novel mechanisms by which the immune-mediated destruction of islet beta cells can be prevented. Additional research focuses on the potential of islet transplantation as a permanent treatment for T1D. In addition to his basic science work, he is also leading translational and clinical research in T1D including using MRI to study the pancreas in T1D and trials to study immune therapies for T1D.

Dr. Kelley's studies have included examinations of longitudinal changes in bone and body composition in obese adolescents undergoing weight loss as well as in newly diagnosed children with type 1 diabetes. She has also conducted studies evaluating lipid abnormalities in high risk pediatric populations. Dr. Kelley's clinical and research interests within lipidology include familial hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and abnormal lipoprotein(a) in children. She is currently a local principal investigator for clinical trials, including use of PCSK-9 inhibitors in children with familial hypercholesterolemia. She also is a local principal investigator in the Type 1 Diabetes Exchange, a multi-institutional collaboration to improve the lives and care of patients with type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Jaser studies risk and protective factors in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. She has demonstrated the effects of adolescent coping, maternal adjustment, and parenting on adolescents' glycemic control and quality of life. She is currently developing and testing interventions to improve outcomes in youth with diabetes and their families. These include a program to help mothers cope effectively with the stress of parenting adolescents with type 1 diabetes, a positive psychology intervention to improve adolescents adherence, and sleep-promoting programs for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. In addition, she is interested in neurocognitive complications in pediatric type 1 diabetes.
