We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and only accept applications submitted through ERAS. We offer positions through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) Medicine and Pediatric Specialties match.
Program admission is competitive, so we encourage applicants to apply early with a completed application. We schedule interviews on Wednesdays and Thursdays in September, following a thorough holistic panel review of all submitted applications. Our goal is to recruit candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences who love neonatology and are passionate about academic medicine and scholarly pursuit.
The minimum requirements for application to our fellowship program are:
- Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics or Medicine-Pediatrics
- Completed ERAS application
- NPM Referee evaluation form to all letter writers. The NPM Referee evaluation form is available for download here. Applications will not be considered complete until the evaluation forms are submitted.
- Four letters of recommendation (LoRs) of which:
- 1 letter from your Residency Program Director
- 2 letters from a Neonatology Faculty member
- 1 letter from another Faculty in either Research or a Critical Care Specialty (Cardiology, Pediatric Intensive Care, or Emergency Medicine)
- Personal statement, including a description of special interests and career goals
- Medical school transcript
- Medical student performance evaluation/Dean’s letter
- Wallet-size color photograph
- USMLE transcripts (Steps 1 and 2 are required; Step 3 is strongly encouraged) or COMLEX transcripts
- ECFMG status report (for International Medical Graduates)
- J-1 visas are supported
Deadlines
- Applicants may register with ERAS on June 5, 2024 to begin working on their applications.
- Applicants may load documents into ERAS beginning July 3, 2024.
- Fellowship programs may review applications beginning July 17, 2024.
- Match results will be released December 4, 2024 for fellowships to begin July 1, 2025.
We are committed to an equitable and transparent application process. Applications must be complete, including four letters of recommendation and associated referee evaluations, before they will be reviewed. Our Recruitment Committee will holistically review each candidate’s application. Interview invitations will be sent electronically via ERAS by August 2. For the 2025 recruitment season, we will conduct all interviews virtually on the following dates: Sept. 4, Sept. 5, Sept. 11, Sept. 12, Sept. 18, Sept. 19, Sept. 25, and Sept. 26. Interviews are generally 9:00am-3:00pm and include an overview, interviews with four to five faculty members, and one hour with our fellows. On Wednesdays, they also include observing conference for one hour.
Following the certification of our program rank list, candidates will have the option to visit in-person in October (dates TBD). To conduct recruitment equitably, the purpose of in-person visits will be for us to show candidates how amazing our program, colleagues, facility and city are, but will not affect a candidate’s position on our rank list.
We encourage applicants to access their file frequently to ensure timely submission of all application components.
A personal interview is required for applicants who will be ranked for matching.
