Medical Students

Vanderbilt medical students work with our faculty in several clinical rotations, including Foundations of Health Care Delivery (FHD). Students also rotate in the Adolescent and Young Adult Health Clinic during the Core Clinical Clerkship phase either as part of the Pediatrics Rotation or as a two-week elective (Adolescent Medicine Elective or Young Women's Health Elective).

Senior Medical students can rotate in the Adolescent and Young Adult Health clinic through several courses, including:

  • Adolescent Medicine Advanced Clinical elective
  • Primary Care elective
  • Integrated Science Course (Sexual Health and Medicine)

Residents

Vanderbilt Categorical Pediatric Residents work in the Adolescent Young Adult health clinic for two weeks during their 1st and 3rd years of residency.

Vanderbilt Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residents work in the Adolescent Young Adult health clinic for two weeks during their 3rd and 4th years of residency.

Vanderbilt Pediatric Neurology Residents work in our clinic for two weeks during their 1st and 2nd years of residency.

Fellows

Additionally, Sports Medicine Fellowship trainees can spend their first year in the program training in our clinic to fulfill the primary care requirement.

Nurse Practitioner Students

Various Nurse Practitioner students, including Pediatric Primary Care, Family Practice and Emergency Care specialties, are regularly placed at our clinic through the Vanderbilt School of Nursing preceptorship program to complete all or part of their pediatric rotation. These students complete anywhere from 40 to 200 hours at our clinic and are enrolled in Master of Science in Nursing programs at Vanderbilt University, Middle Tennessee State University, or University of Tennessee as well as other local universities. Additionally, Pediatric Primary Care NP students placed at other Vanderbilt/VUMC Pediatric Primary Care sites can complete a 1-3 day rotation in our clinic based on availability and interest.
