Layana is a Palestinian-Jordanian who grew up in Amman, Jordan. She obtained her medicine degree from the University of Jordan in 2019. Layana first came to Vanderbilt during an away rotation in medical school and is thrilled to be back in Nashville to work at Monroe Carell as a pediatric pulmonology fellow after finishing her pediatrics residency at the University of Massachusetts. As she continues to explore her career and research goals with the team at Vanderbilt, she will be working on asthma research during her second and third years of fellowship.

Outside of work, Layana enjoys hiking, snuggling with her cat, and - in true Music City fashion - she is learning the piano and polishing her ukulele skills.
