Cara was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Bioethics at Loyola University of Chicago. She then moved to Detroit, MI to complete medical school training at Wayne State University School of Medicine. After completing her medical degree, Cara moved to Indianapolis, IN where she completed a residency in Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. During residency, she also completed a certificate program in Global Health. Upon graduation, she moved back to Chicago and spent 3 years working as a hospitalist caring for children on the inpatient wards and in the urgent care setting. She is excited to be in Nashville for her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship. Cara is an avid traveler, outdoor enthusiast, and enjoys long hikes with her two dogs.
