The residency program provides graduate medical training in a comprehensive, tertiary care facility with a broad exposure to all subspecialties as well as experience in primary care with an ethnically diverse pediatric population. Opportunities for clinic experiences in private practice offices around the Nashville area provide additional unique experiences to our training.

Additionally, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt provides primary and subspecialty care at 30 locations across the state of Tennessee, a testament to our commitment to providing excellent patient care closer to home for our patients and their families. Even as our outreach initiatives continue to expand, we see patients from all over Tennessee and the surrounding states, including Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi, at our main campus location.

Residents have a continuity clinic in our Pediatric Primary Care Clinic where they provide longitudinal care for children with a diversity of acute and chronic medical issues from all socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Approximately 80 percent of these patients are insured under Medicaid. Other demographic information is shown below, reflecting the rich diversity of the patient population seen here.
