Brienne was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Loyola University in Chicago where she earned her undergraduate degree in molecular biology with interdisciplinary honors. She attended medical school and completed pediatrics residency/chief year at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell.

Outside the hospital, Brienne enjoys the finer things in life: listening to live music, viewing art gallery shows, gardening, and trying new Nashville restaurants with her friends and family.
