Layana Al-Halbouni, MD
Medical School: The University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan
Residency: University of Massachusetts
Layana is a Palestinian-Jordanian who grew up in Amman, Jordan. She obtained her medicine degree from the University of Jordan in 2019. Amman, home to a large refugee population and many impoverished families, is where she found her passion for pediatrics and her interest in public and global health. She was lucky enough to work with and help these communities, which fueled her dedication to her field.
Layana first came to Vanderbilt during an away rotation in medical school and is now super excited to be back in Nashville to work at the Children's Hospital as a pediatric pulmonology fellow after finishing her pediatrics residency in Massachusetts. She's looking forward to exploring her research and career goals with the team at Vanderbilt.
When she's not working, Layana loves hiking, playing her ukulele, snuggling with her cat, and hosting board game nights with her friends.
