The Center for Pediatric Precision Medicine was established in 2020 to support evidence-based, individualized diagnosis and treatment approaches for children. The center is directed by Prince Kannankeril, MD, MSCI, with a scientific advisory board including representatives from the institution-wide centers for Personalized Medicine, Precision Medicine, Genomics, and Ethics.

Early goals for the center are:

• Enhancement of pediatric precision medicine research through assisting in the use of existing resources and filling key gaps
• Support of translation of precision medicine into clinical pediatrics and the study outcomes of precision approaches in children
• Training in precision medicine topics in education for all levels of learners, including trainees, providers, patients, families and our community.

Early focal points include pediatric pharmacogenomics; phenome wide association studies; enhancements to the VUMC biobank, BioVU to support pediatric analyses; and precision medicine seminars for trainees in pediatric clinical subspecialties, pediatric pharmacy, and genetic counseling.

The Center for Pediatric Precision Medicine's mission is to improve clinical outcomes for children and families by supporting research, accelerating translation, and providing training that facilitates the incorporation of precision medicine into pediatric care.
