Reducing Overuse of Antibiotics with Decision Support (ROADS): Randomized Clinical Trial

This page contains educational materials to support clinicians engaged in the study.

The ROADS trial began in late 2024. It tests the effectiveness of EHR-enabled, stewardship-guided, clinical decision support for pediatric respiratory illness. Enrollment into ROADS is automated based on ED triage data, including triage chief complaint and documentation of cough and/or abnormal respiratory effort.

You can use the tools whenever they are available. They will only be viewable about half of the time due to participant randomization. These tools are designed to support, not restrict or replace, medical decision-making.
