As a prior elementary school teach of the Deaf, Mackenzie is passionate about hearing loss genetics and other pediatric sensory disorders. Furthermore, Mackenzie has a special interest in public health, specifically focusing on health education as it relates to access to genetic services and bridging the gap of healthcare disparities. She is interested in increasing genetic literacy across all populations.
