Dr. Smith's clinical focus is hematologic malignancies, with a special interest in Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphomas, and PTLD. She is a member of the Children's Oncology Group and a panel member for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Pediatric Hodgkin's Guidelines Panel.
She is a leader in quality improvement (QI) and patient safety with multiple ongoing projects including tumor lysis supportive care, opioid prescribing, and medication reconciliation. She leads the divisional Morbidity, Mortality, and Improvement conferences and works with both the hospital and Department of Pediatrics on safety and quality improvement initiatives. Dr. Smith participates in education about QI with the Faculty Quality Academy and through the ASPHO Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Special Interest Group, which she co-founded with other national colleagues.
Dr. Smith loves working with our brilliant trainees. She directs our resident PHO rotation and is a core faculty member for the pediatric residency program. She is a clinical mentor for our PHO fellows.
