Research Information
Dr. Brown is a pediatric pulmonologist with a focus in cystic fibrosis. She has collaborated in research projects evaluating the clinical care of people affected by cystic fibrosis including the development of guidelines for cystic fibrosis care and the involvement of advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs) within CF care in the US. Dr. Brown is one of the co-leaders of the Therapeutics Development Network site in the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Vanderbilt through which multi-center observational and interventional studies are performed. Dr. Brown performs research in quality improvement and leads the quality improvement work performed through the Cystic Fibrosis Pediatric Program at Vanderbilt. These quality improvement projects shape the clinical care provided for children with cystic fibrosis receiving care at Vanderbilt and have resulted in increases in pulmonary function, nutritional status, and access to guideline-driven and evidence based cystic fibrosis care. Dr. Brown has mentored interdisciplinary trainees, medical students, residents and pediatric pulmonology fellows in quality improvement work and cystic fibrosis research.
