Dr. Istfan's research focuses on abusive head trauma and child maltreatment. Her ongoing research projects include studies on the epidemiology of abusive head trauma in West Virginian children under 24 months old from 2012-2020 and repeat skeletal survey utilization in suspected child abuse in southern West Virginia.
