Michael grew up in Franklin, Tennessee. After high school, he moved to Southern California where he attended Pepperdine University and attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He returned to Tennessee for medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Michael discovered his passion for neurology after his first year of medical school while doing work in stroke research. While in residency, he has developed a special interest in pediatric epilepsy and will be continuing his training at Vanderbilt with an epilepsy fellowship after graduation. In his free time, he enjoys board games, camping, hiking, trail running, and generally anything that will get him outdoors.
