Katie Conover, MD

Chief Resident
Pediatric Residency Program

M.D.
University of Central Florida College of Medicine
Residency
Pediatrics - Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Katie was born and raised in Miami, Florida with her older sister, Meghan. She attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where she earned her undergraduate degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. After graduating, she spent the best summer as a counselor at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Florida, a camp for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Before starting medical school at the University of Central Florida, she enjoyed a year of teaching at an underserved elementary school in rural Miami. She eventually left the great Sunshine State after medical school and has loved the lively, musical city of Nashville. Her passion for teaching was reinforced during pediatric residency and she also developed an interest in quality improvement and clinical research. She loved her residency experience so much she had to do what her significant other, Brett, calls a “victory lap” as one of the chief residents.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and reading books (especially with the Vandy Peds book club!). She appreciates the many parks and hiking areas in Tennessee and is working on some gardening skills since moving to a more rural part of Nashville (with a few alpaca neighbors). She loves going back home to Miami to visit her adorable niece and nephew, Charlotte and Jack! Her next step after chief year will be moving on to fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology.
